Rosanna Morris
Botanical Print’s Rooted in Nature
Welcome. I’m Rosanna Morris—printmaker, illustrator, and teacher based in the UK
working at the intersection of handmade craft, botanical drawing, and earth-based inks.
I create original linocut and woodcut prints, teach sell-out printmaking workshops, and run a community print studio I co-founded in Bristol. My work is grounded in a deep connection to the land, using foraged plants, earth pigments, and natural materials to explore themes of place, ecology, and human connection.

BOTANICAL BLOCK PRINTING
Botanical Block Printing – My First Book
Published Spring 2024
Discover the craft of botanical block printing in this down-to-earth, beautifully illustrated guide. Designed for beginners and experienced makers alike, Botanical Block Printing walks you through the full process of creating your own relief prints—using just your hands, a handful of tools, and inspiration from the natural world.
In recent years, linocut and woodcut printmaking have seen a real resurgence. People are turning back to the tactile joy of making—often right from their kitchen tables. This book embraces that shift, offering a practical, accessible route into one of the most rewarding forms of handmade art.
Inside, you’ll find:
Step-by-step guidance on tools, materials, and setting up your print space
Techniques for drawing, carving, and printing onto both paper and fabric
A full chapter on making your own botanical inks from foraged plants and earth pigments
Creative projects to build your confidence and explore colour, pattern, and composition
Interviews with inspiring printmakers working with natural subjects
Photographed with care and laid out in a clear, user-friendly design, this book was made to be used—again and again. It features an exposed spine that lies flat while you work, an extended inside flap that doubles as a ruler, and a burnt-orange thread binding for a subtle, tactile finish.
Whether you’re just starting out or looking to deepen your practice, Botanical Block Printing is a practical companion and visual delight—rooted in the rhythms of the natural world and made to be picked up with inky hands.
‘ Rosannas work is at once beautiful and powerful. Her ambitious and masterful lino prints celebrate the natural world and the forms of plants aswell as advocating for sustainable farming practices and calling for positive social change. We think of her Bread and Roses print as encapsulating a great deal of what her work is about – the right for every persons basic needs being met - 'Bread' but also the need for 'Roses' – beauty, art, and the things that make life worth living!’
